DUCHESS SARAH MARGARET FERGUSON
Duchess Sarah is active in many charities involving the welfare of children of the world. She is the founder of Children in Crisis (a charity based in the UK serving children worldwide) and of Chances for Children (a charity which had its headquarters destroyed in the terrorist attacks on 9-11-01). Duchess Sarah is also a patron of The Teenage Cancer Trust and is a part of many other worthy charities for both adults and children. For these reasons, I affectionately refer to Sarah Margaret Ferguson as the DUCHESS OF SMILES! My Role Model
I was graced by meeting Duchess Sarah in Tampa, Florida. Prior to her appearance, I had sent two dozen white roses with a yellow rose in the centre to her back stage. Whenshe came to the stage, before making any other address, Duchess Sarah asked, "Who is Ben? The person who sent the flowers back stage?" I was astonished! I ros from my seat and bowed my head toward Her. She then said to me, "Thank you, Ben." I was totally taken--could not say a word! All I could do was bow my head in recognition. Please understand, I have long admired Duchess Sarah for the many good deeds she has performed for others--especially children. To have her personally thank me before 100's of people overwhelmed me! I am active with the Masonic Child ID Program and have chaired the Masonic Toys for Tots for three years. I post amber Alerts (missing children) to my yahoo group Sarah the Duchess of Smiles. During the lash of hurricanes in 2004 I assisted the Salvation Army in feeding the destitute. I do these things because it is the right thing to do. In undertaking such events, I often ask myself, "What would the Duchess do?" For she is a great Lady--a role model for us all!
